The essential role of absorbent microbeads

Absorbent microbeads are small beads located at the heart of diapers, feminine protection or for urinary leakage.
They have an essential mission: to absorb and retain moisture to guarantee optimal comfort and dry skin.

Traditionally, these microbeads are made from materials derived from petroleum, therefore non-renewable and not very environmentally friendly.
At Love & Green, we have chosen to reinvent this technology to make it less impactful: we are reducing the carbon footprint of our products even further! 🌿

A more responsible composition

Our absorbent microbeads of biosourced origin are certified according to the process of biomass balance sheet (mass balance).

But what does this mean in practice?
The biomass balance is a recognized certification method which guarantees that a part of the raw materials used to manufacture the absorbent microbeads comes from renewable resources, such as plants.
In other words, a measured proportion of fossil materials is replaced by materials of plant origin throughout the production chain.

💡 Speaking example : it’s a bit like green energy.
When you subscribe to a green electricity contract, you support the production of renewable energy. However, when we turn on the light, it is not necessarily this “green” electricity which directly powers our lamp.
It's the same principle for absorbent microbeads of biosourced origin: we buy absorbent microbeads made from renewable materials (this process is guaranteed, traced and certified), but once integrated into the industrial circuit, it can be mixed with classic SAP.

Total transparency on our commitments

It is not possible to separate ingredients made from raw materials of renewable origin from those made from fossil materials, because these two types of materials are mixed during production.
This is why we cannot guarantee the exact proportion of raw materials of renewable origin present in each finished product.

However, in investing in the biomass balance approach, we actively support our suppliers in increasing the share of raw materials of renewable origin in their value chain, while reducing dependence on fossil resources.
This approach helps to gradually transform the industry towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.

And this is not the only component concerned!

The principle of biomass balance does not only apply to absorbent microbeads.
Other materials in our diapers work according to the same logic:

• The cellulose, when it is FSC® mixed certified, follows the same principle: it combines fibers from sustainably managed forests with other sources, while ensuring the traceability and sustainability of the process.

These different initiatives are part of the same vision: decarbonize the entire diaper industrial chain.
Each progress, even partial, contributes to reducing the overall environmental footprint of the product. 🌍💚
